A PATH, A PRAYER ist ein dreiteiliges, künstlerisch-dokumentarisches Projekt, bestehend aus einer Klanginstallation und einem Film. Beide sind Teil der Sonderausstellung Threads – Verflechtungen.

Zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung wird die Performance live gezeigt!

Das Projekt ist eine Zusammenarbeit zweier Geschwister: des Choreografen und Tänzers Nitsan Avraham Margaliot und der Schauspielerin und Sängerin Shir Yehudit Margaliot. Sie bringen zeitgenössische jüdische Perspektiven auf Fragen von Flucht, Erinnerung und Vermächtnis ein. Mithilfe von live aufgezeichneten poetischen Texten, Liedern, Klanglandschaften und Choreographie erzählen sie gemeinsam die Fluchtgeschichte ihrer Familie aus Chemnitz und machen Übergänge von der Vergangenheit in die Gegenwart spürbar.

A PATH, A PRAYER beschäftigt sich mit Fragen nach generationsübergreifenden Erfahrungen. Ein zeitgenössisches Gebet dient als verbindendes Element zwischen Performance, Klang und Film und eröffnet einen neuen Weg hin zu Erinnerung und Versöhnung. Die Arbeit schafft einen Raum für Dialog, der Zeiten und Orte überschreitet und zu einem fragmentierten Miteinander führt.

Performance by Nitsan Margaliot and Shir Margaliot

This is a three-part artistic and documentary project, including a sound installation and film that will be shown throughout the duration of the exhibition Threads.

The performance will be shown live at the exhibition opening!

A PATH, A PRAYER, is a collaboration between two siblings, choreographer and dancer Nitsan Avraham Margaliot and actress and singer Shir Yehudit Margaliot. In their early thirties and late twenties, they bring contemporary Jewish perspectives to questions of flight, memory, and inheritance. Together, they tell the story of their family’s departure and escape from Chemnitz through live and recorded poetic texts, songs, soundscape, and choreography. The work traces their family history and makes passages from the past to the present tangible.

A PATH, A PRAYER deals with the carrying and passing on of experiences across generations. Through the creation of new connections, they walk a pathway toward memory and reconciliation where contemporary prayer functions as a connecting element between performance, sound, and film. The work opens a place for dialogue across times and places, through memory and towards fragmented togetherness.
